Forty-Five Pairs of Shoes and Nothing to Wear 48” X 36” Archival Pigment Print on Canvas It is hard to find a shoe that fits. Humans have different identities that come in unique packages. When it comes to the shoes we want to wear, our biology may not conform to the stereotypes society tries to force on us. When it comes to imagination and play, toys reinforce these stereotypes and direct play to the Western definition of the gender binary. Forty-Five Pairs of Shoes and Nothing to Wear visualizes the inability for these toys to break away from gender stereotypes and create freedom in the way we play. Website |
